NewsChannel 21 catches up with Thanksgiving Day grocery shoppers

Sometimes, you still need a few holiday meal ingredients

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Many people spent Thursday morning preparing for their Thanksgiving dinner with close family and friends.

Last-minute shoppers were out early this morning grocery shopping and and buying last minute items to complete their meals.

Fred Meyer in Bend opened Thursday morning at 7 a.m. for shoppers, and perhaps surprisingly, the aisles were still well-stocked and the lines were not too long.

Some shoppers stopped and spoke with NewsChannel 21 about their experience shopping on Thanksgiving morning.

"It actually feel likes it's not that busy, so that's nice," Alexander Rigby said. "A lot of things are on sale, so I'm assuming they are preparing for tomorrow."

One woman said she expected it to be a lot busier.

"No, I'm surprised -- maybe people will come a little later," Delores Schneller said. "I thought they'd come early."

Another woman said her husband usually does the last-minute shopping.

"You know, I think my husband is the one that runs in the store and gets the 'last minutes', but it does seem a little busier than I expected," Sarah Payson said.
