Oregon AARP shares seniors’ frustration over vaccine delays
Organization warns seniors to avoid vaccine scams
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Oregon seniors 80 and over will be eligible for the coronavirus vaccine next Monday, news that many seniors have been waiting to hear for a long time.
"Of course people are frustrated, because every week its older people who are passing away," Joyce Demonnin, communications director for Oregon AARP, told NewsChannel 21 Friday.
The state plans to begin vaccinating Oregonians 80 and older next Monday. The following week, starting on Feb. 15 seniors 75 will be eligible, and the following two weeks 70 and 65 year olds will be eligible.
More details about the effort to vaccinate seniors were announced Friday by Gov. Kate Brown and Oregon Health Authority officials.
Thousands of teachers in Oregon were vaccinated before seniors, a move that frustrated some.
"We would have loved to see older adults be prioritized first, but we moved passed that, and that window has moved on," Demonnin said.
While seniors do prepare signing up for vaccines, Demonnin warned of potential scams. She told NewsChannel 21 that if someone is offering you money in exchange for a vaccine, it's likely a scam.

Seniors, if you want to get vaccinated, send AARP some more money and they will continue to share their frustration.
I save much more with the AARP senior discounts than my membership costs me. Of course, if saving money and having an advocate for senior issues are things you don’t find desirable, I wouldn’t join if I were you.
AARP is a proud but quiet supporter of gun control, amnesty for illegals, abortion and ran ads promoting Obamacare.
For seniors looking for discounts and wanting their money used to promote less murderous, more conservative values, AMAC would be worth a look.
You sound entitled.
Yes. State-wide and Nationally, AARP has been surprisingly quiet on the whole vaccination discussion. There must be some kind of fix in with the Biden administration on other legislation. Imagine if they stood up toe to toe with the teachers’ unions, it would be a real battle.
I wonder how many of these seniors support Biden-K-Brown- or the Demokrat agenda ? These delays are on the State Governor- who has had months to prepare a distribution or roll out plan and has simply failed- costing the state months of angst-worry-and higher fatality rates. Time to clean house and demand Brown resign- “Oregon Lives Matter” !
Democrats are typical socialists. To them, the elderly and infirm are nothing but a waste of resources.
Creepy Joe will continue to slaughter Americans who he deems are less productive to the collective.
Wrong president. Look at who ignored the pandemic and just said it’ll disappear suddenly.
I gotta say I’m disappointed that convicts get to cut in line ahead of the rest of us.
