Habitat for Humanity builds affordable home offered to local workers in Sisters

Habitat for Humanity

SISTER, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Sisters Habitat for Humanity has launched its first workforce housing opportunity, offering a 1,000-square-foot home in the Village Meadows neighborhood for $399,000. The initiative aims to help individuals who serve the Sisters community afford to live in the area.

SISTERS, OR — Sisters Habitat for Humanity has announced its first workforce housing opportunity, expanding its mission to ensure the people who serve the Sisters community can afford to live here.

The 1,000-square-foot home in the Village Meadows neighborhood is priced at $399,000 and introduces a new “workforce tier” for households earning up to 120% of Area Median Income (AMI).

The initiative responds to a growing housing gap. By late 2025, median home prices in Sisters reached approximately $900,000 - well beyond the reach of many local workers, including teachers, healthcare professionals, and those in the service industry. This new offering provides a path to homeownership closer to where these individuals work.

“This workforce housing option is about more than a single home—it’s about helping employers retain local talent and supporting a vibrant, sustainable community,” said Executive Director Peter Hoover.

The home is the first step in a broader workforce housing model that will be incorporated into the upcoming Larch Commons development, a 25-home project that blends traditional affordable housing with workforce-level opportunities.

Applications are now open. To review requirements and income limits, visit sistershabitat.org/workforce-home or call 541-549-1193.
