Reported explosion sparks house fire in Madras; no injuries reported

MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Jefferson County Fire and EMS responded to a structure fire today in the 600 block of Southeast Turner Street. The incident, initially reported as an explosion in a residence, resulted in no injuries to the four occupants who had safely exited the home.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Upon arrival at 8:06 a.m., fire crews observed smoke coming from the front door of the residence. All four occupants were already outside the home when emergency services reached the scene.

Mutual aid assistance was provided by several agencies. Warm Springs Fire Safety offered medical stand-by services. Madras Police and the Jefferson County Sheriff Department managed traffic control around the incident area. The Oregon State Fire Marshal Office is assisting with the investigation and the Red Cross provided support to the displaced occupants.
