REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- RootedHomes will celebrate the completion of Rooted at 19th, a community of 23 permanently affordable homes, with a public ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, June 12, 2026. The event, which will be held in Redmond, marks a significant expansion of affordable homeownership opportunities for the local workforce.

The Rooted at 19th development utilizes the Community Land Trust model, designed to ensure homes remain affordable for generations. All 23 homes are built to net-zero energy standards, which aim to lower long-term utility costs and support healthier living for residents.

The Rooted at 19th community includes a mix of two- and three-bedroom duplexes. An existing four-bedroom farmhouse on the property has also been preserved.

RootedHomes' mission is to provide environmentally sustainable, permanently affordable homeownership for individuals who contribute to Central Oregon's economy and community. The Rooted at 19th community reflects this mission.

Eliza Wilson, executive director of RootedHomes, emphasized the collaborative effort behind the project. "Rooted at 19th is a great example of what can happen when partners come together around a shared commitment-creating housing that remains affordable for generations," Wilson said. "These 23 homes represent opportunities for teachers, health care workers, service industry professionals and other local families to continue living and thriving in their community. Every home we build is a forever investment in keeping Central Oregon affordable."

The project was developed in partnership with several organizations, including Solaire Homebuilders, Ore. Housing and Community Services, Energy Trust of Oregon, Business Oregon and the City of Redmond.

Geoff and MaryLea Harris, owners of Solaire Homebuilders, expressed satisfaction with their involvement. "Working with RootedHomes and our shared homeowner community is one of the highlights of our professional lives," the Harrises said. "Building sustainable, net-zero energy homes that let people live where they work is immeasurably rewarding to our team, our trade partners and all our Solaire clients across Central Oregon."

The public ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 345 NW 19th St., Redmond, OR 97756. The celebration is free and open to the public, with remarks, light refreshments and site tours planned.

RootedHomes, formerly known as Kôr Community Land Trust, is a Central Oregon nonprofit focused on creating permanently affordable, energy-efficient homeownership for the region's workforce. The organization stewards the land beneath each home, ensuring prices remain accessible for future buyers. RootedHomes has developed communities in Bend and Redmond and a home in Sisters.

RootedHomes plans further expansion, with a project into Prineville scheduled for 2027.
