Relocation plans underway for wildfire victims near Crook County Fairgrounds

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Crook County Fairgrounds began coordinating the relocation of wildfire evacuees and their livestock Wednesday to prepare for the upcoming Crook County Fair.

The fairgrounds is working with the Crook County Emergency Manager and emergency response partners to identify alternative accommodations for those displaced by the fires.

The transition aims to provide safe shelter for individuals and animals while allowing the fairgrounds to host its most significant annual event. The fair is a major tradition in the community that supports agricultural education and youth development.

The Crook County Fair represents months of work by hundreds of local youth. Throughout the year, 4-H and National FFA Organization members invest hours raising and caring for livestock and preparing projects for exhibition. For these participants, the fair is the culmination of a year of learning and responsibility.

County officials acknowledged the difficulties the wildfires have caused for families and livestock owners. Both supporting displaced residents and ensuring the success of the fair remain top priorities for the administration. Partners are currently identifying relocation options to balance these needs.
