Camera Confusion: City of Bend reminds residents Flock cameras are not traffic enforcement cameras, pilot program expired

MGN Online

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Following multiple high profile stories involving Flock cameras around the country, The City of Bend is reminding residents, they do not operate Flock cameras. A pilot program they participated in ended in January.

According to the city, private businesses in Bend do run their own Flock cameras, but those are on private property.

For traffic enforcement operations involving cameras, the city uses Verra Mobility cameras. The cameras handle red light and speed enforcement at three intersections.

The city's Flock camera pilot program previously ran for several months at two locations within city limits. Those cameras were positioned at the north and south ends of U.S. Highway 97 before being turned off and removed.

Information regarding automated traffic enforcement is available on the city website at bendoregon.gov. Members of the public who have questions about equipment or technology on city property can send inquiries to communications@bendoregon.gov.
