Mobile Home Destroyed in Overnight Fire in Southwest Bend

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A vacant mobile home in southwest Bend was destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning after flames broke through the roof and ignited nearby brush.

Bend Fire & Rescue firefighters responded to the scene on South Queens Drive at 12:43 a.m., quickly applying water to extinguish the structure fire and stop spot fires from spreading through surrounding vegetation.

No injuries were reported and officials confirmed the mobile home had no occupants. The fire resulted in a total loss, with damage to the structure and its contents estimated at $25,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Following the incident, Bend Fire & Rescue reminded community members that the region remains at extreme fire danger despite recent rain and cooler weather.

Outdoor debris burning is prohibited within Bend city limits per municipal ordinance. In the surrounding Deschutes Rural Fire Protection District #2, outdoor debris burning is closed for the season.

While debris burning is restricted, recreational campfires, cooking fires and warming fires are typically allowed year-round. Fire officials advise anyone lighting permissible outdoor fires to never leave them unattended and to always keep a water source or fire extinguisher nearby.
