Sisters man dies following single-vehicle crash into a tree

Bend, Ore. (KTVZ) --- An 82-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after his pickup truck left the road and struck a tree northeast of Sisters, Ore., according to the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded at approximately 2:33 p.m. to the single-vehicle crash on Wilt Road, east of Fair Mile Lane. Frank Halvorsen of Sisters was driving a white 2018 Ford F-150 eastbound when the vehicle exited the roadway along the northbound shoulder and hit a Ponderosa pine tree. Halvorsen was pronounced dead at the scene.

An 81-year-old female passenger in the pickup truck sustained serious injuries. Medics from the Sisters–Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District transported her to a hospital.

Personnel from the Sisters–Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District and the Deschutes County Road Department assisted deputies at the crash site. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
