Deschutes River Woods Residents Raising Money for Wildland Brush Truck, Additional Equipment

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Residents of Deschutes River Woods are raising money for a wildland brush truck, which would be utilized by community members during emergencies.

Currently, DRW has raised almost $5,000 out of their $10,000 goal.

According to a GoFundMe organized by Jeff Thompson, Heppner Fire District is offering up their 1979 Wildland Brush Truck. The district is accepting bids through September 15th.

This year, firefighters in DRW have responded to four scenes where the equipment could have assisted.

If the community does not win the bid, the funds will be transferred to a high interest yield savings account until an appropriate truck can be purchased.
