Recreational burning to reopen in Sisters-Camp Sherman and Cloverdale Districts

SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Recreational burning will reopen on Saturday, Sept. 5, across all areas within the Sisters-Camp Sherman and Cloverdale Fire Districts.

The reopening follows a total burn ban during the peak summer fire season. Local fire agencies implemented the restrictions due to red flag warnings and extreme predicted fire behavior in the area.

Recreational fires covered under the order include those used for pleasure, religious, ceremonial, cooking or warmth. The lifting of the ban does not extend to yard debris burning within the districts.

Residents are encouraged to contact their local fire protection agencies for additional burning information and regulations. Fire departments in both districts will monitor weather and fuel moisture levels daily and may modify burning restrictions as conditions change.

Open yard debris burning is expected to open around Nov. 1.
