Warm Thursday and Friday Before Cold Front Arrives

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Happy Wednesday everyone! We are officially halfway through the week. Central Oregon will enjoy another round of warm weather tomorrow and Friday before a cold front moves through Friday night. Thursday will be the warmest day- a lot like how yesterday and today have felt- with highs reaching the mid 80s. By Friday, we'll be back in the low 70s, but still above average. 

The cold front we've been tracking is now expected to arrive Friday evening, likely after 6 p.m. and before midnight. Winds will increase as the front approaches, but no serious impacts are expected for Bend, and the rest of Central Oregon. A few sprinkles or light showers will be possible across the higher terrain, with the high desert floor around Bend likely to stay dry on Friday.

The biggest concern will be in the higher terrain west of Central Oregon. A few flurries could develop Saturday evening into Sunday, with perhaps up to an inch of snow in the highest elevations. Even snow does end up falling, temperatures and ground conditions should limit accumulation, and any snow that does stick is not expected to last long.

Behind the front, temperatures will certainly turn cooler this weekend, with a return to more fall-like weather. We're talking highs in the 50s, and overnight lows in the 30s and high 20s as we move into the weekend and next work week. If you have sensitive plants outside, you may want to start bringing them in, or protecting them for our cold weather months. Take care folks, and plan ahead!
