Bend woman recounts being rescued from drowning in irrigation canal

(Update: Adding video)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- "I was exhausted from yelling and screaming," Bend resident Lily Dean recollected recently. "I was screaming all the time -- ‘Help! Help!’ -- and I was thinking, it’s like a dream, like I don’t know if my voice is coming out of my mouth or not."

After months of trying to wrap her head about her close brush with death, Dean shared the traumatic experience she faced while walking beside the canal between Ferguson Road and 27th Street back in May.

Had it not been for another Bend resident coming out to rescue her from drowning, Lily said she may not have been around to tell her story.

NewsChannel21's Bola Gbadebo spoke with Lily Dean about her experience, and how she's coping now.
