Parents find overdue, missing Bend-area man, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies say
(Update: Family finds 23-year-old man, no longer considered missing)
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A 23-year-old Bend-area man who was reported missing, prompting a public plea for information, was found Sunday by his family, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.
Cameron Michael McDermott Roe “is no longer listed as a missing person,” sheriff’s Sergeant Jay Minton said.
“The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank those who helped locate McDermott Roe,” Minton added.
Family members had been out looking on their own for McDermott Roe, who “is a houseless subject in our community,” and contacted the sheriff's office on Saturday, as they'd been unable to locate him, Minton said.
McDermott Roe has been known to live in the area known as Dirt World, north of Bend, but also frequents other locations in Sisters, Redmond and Bend, Minton said. He does not have a vehicle and relies on others for transportation. Minton said “his parents do not know him to have a cellphone.”
“He travels around where he can stay, finds a place to lay his head down,” the sergeant said.
He added that deputies visited Dirt World on Saturday in their efforts to find the man or learn where he might have been.
