Redmond Police cite SUV driver for illegal U-turn after collision with motorcycle injures both riders, one seriously

Wednesday AM crash closes Airport Way; another motorcyclist hit deer on Hwy. 97
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) –An SUV driver was cited for an illegal U-turn Wednesday morning after a collision with a motorcycle on SW Airport Way in Redmond that sent both riders to the hospital, one with serious injuries, police said Thursday.
Police and Redmond Fire & Rescue responded around 9:40 a.m. to the reported crash on Airport Way near Mount Hood Drive, Lt. Eric Beckwith said.
The crash involved an Acura SUV and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with two riders, Beckwith said. Both motorcycle riders were taken to St. Charles Bend after the crash, which closed Airport Way, forcing a detour for motorists heading to or from Redmond Airport.
Police did not release the names of those involved.
“The desirable weather brings motorcycle riders to the roadway,” Beckwith said in a news release, “and the Redmond Police Department would like to remind motorists to have an increased awareness regarding motorcycle traffic.”
Shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, another motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a deer on U.S. Highway 97 near milepost 128, in the area of Young Avenue and 61st Street six miles south of Redmond, Oregon State Police said.
