Klamath Falls e-bike rider killed in crash; OSP says he ran red light at intersection
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A Klamath Falls e-bike rider entered an intersection against a red light and was struck and killed by an SUV, Oregon State Police said Friday.
At 9:42 a.m. on Wednesday, OSP responded to a vehicle vs. bicycle crash on Crater Lake Parkway (Highway 97 Business), at the intersection with Shasta Way, in Klamath County, troopers said.
OSP's preliminary investigation indicated a westbound electric bicycle, operated by Douglas Duane Robinson, 48, of Klamath Falls, entered the intersection against a red light and was struck by a southbound Subaru Outback driven by a 64-year-old Chiloquin woman.
Robison was later declared deceased at an area hospital, OSP said. The driver was not physically injured.
The highway was affected for about an hour during the on-scene investigation.
OSP was assisted by the Klamath County Sheriff's Office, Klamath County Fire 1 and ODOT.
