How major US stock indexes fared Thursday

Stocks closed lower on Wall Street Thursday as investors tapped the brakes after three days of gains. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq fell. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped less than 1 point. Small-company stocks fell more than the rest of the market.
