WASHINGTON (AP) — In her new book, Fiona Hill lays out her experiences as the Russia adviser in Donald Trump’s White House and the circumstances behind her riveting congressional testimony in Trump’s first impeachment. She describes a president whose ego was so fragile that other world leaders could manipulate him by offering or withholding praise. Hill says Russian President Vladimir Putin was adept at influencing Trump. She says in an Associated Press interview that Trump admired Putin’s ability to extend his grasp on power and appeared to want to emulate that. She says Trump came to resemble the autocratic, populist Putin more than he did any recent U.S. presidents.
