Mississippi man suspected of killing mother, 2 sisters is fatally shot by state troopers in Arizona

MORENCI, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say a man suspected of fatally shooting three family members in Mississippi has been killed in a shootout with Arizona state troopers. Fifty-four-year-old Ivory James Welch III was wanted in connection with the deaths of his mother and two sisters. The bodies were discovered Sunday at a home in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Police say Welch’s vehicle was seen leaving the crime scene and an arrest warrant was issued for him. Arizona troopers located Welch early Monday on a highway near the small town of Morenci. Toopers say they tried to arrest Welch, but he fired shots at them before being killed in a shootout.
