DNC panel discussion of Gaza War serves as an olive branch of sorts

CHICAGO (AP) — After months of Democratic Party infighting over President Joe Biden’s handling of the war in Gaza, Vice President Kamala Harris, the new Democratic nominee, has extended an olive branch of sorts. In what Democratic Party organizers called a first, party activists were given space at the convention to hold a forum to discuss the plight of the Palestinian people. The panel was the product of secret negotiations with Harris and her aides. James Zogby, the founder of the Arab American Institute, said the decision by the party to hold an official event was a historic first, even if it fell far short of the foreign policy changes desired.
