ODOT’s second blasting operation by Bend Parkway shifted to Saturday AM due to Easter weekend
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Oregon Department of Transportation said Thursday it shifted its second in a series of weekend blasting operations for the Bend North Corridor Project to Saturday due to Easter weekend.
On Saturday March 30, crews will complete another blast of hard basalt along U.S. Highway 97 near Empire Avenue. This blast is the second of six making way for the new section of the parkway, part of the Bend North Corridor project.
The road will be closed for up to 15 minutes between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. This brief closure of the highway allows for a clear zone around the blast site.
If you travel this route on Saturday morning, plan ahead and give yourself extra time. Be prepared to stop and give our crews space. If you want to avoid the delays, consider an alternate route. Last week's blast on Sunday morning stopped traffic for only seven minutes, the agency noted.
The shift means crews will not be blasting or working on the project Easter Sunday.
All work is dependent on weather conditions, and schedules are subject to change. Visit the Bend North Corridor website for more detailed information.
