NE Bend landscaping business to celebrate grand reopening in its rescued, relocated historic Nels Andersen House
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Instant Landscaping is holding a Grand-Re-Opening on Saturday, May 25th at their historic Nels Andersen Farmhouse at its new location at 63291 Nels Anderson Road, more than a year after they moved the historic structure out of the way of the new Highway 97 route.
The event, part of National Historic Preservation Month, will feature live music by the Desert Sons Band, complimentary hot dogs and door prizes.
The farmhouse was built by Bend pioneer and Danish immigrant Nels Andersen. Mr. Andersen arrived in Bend and filed for a homestead in 1915. He established the Lilly Dairy, named for his bride, Lillian. They built their Tudor style stucco home in 1929 and lived there until selling their property to the Bradetich Brothers Dairy in the late 1940s.
Instant Landscaping owners Tim and Julie Larocco have rescued the Andersen Farmhouse twice. Soon after purchasing the house, they undertook an award-winning restoration, and again in 2022, when the house was threatened by the ODOT Highway 97 Realignment Project.
Wolfe House and Building Movers worked with the entire crew of Instant Landscaping to relocate the farmhouse 700 yards north to its present site.
