(Update: Flags installed for the Fourth)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Bend Heroes Foundation and a group of volunteers installed 275 flags at Bend Heroes Memorial (Brooks Park), along Veterans Memorial Bridge (Newport Avenue) and in downtown Bend Thursday morning to mark the Fourth of July, Independence Day.

Boy Scout Troop 25 had the honor of leading the group that met at the Bend Heroes Memorial, posting the flags starting at 7 a.m. They will be removed at 4 p.m., foundation Chairman Dick Tobiason said.

Every flag was previously flown over our nation's Capitol and bears the name of a veteran, including 65 WWII veterans.

The public was invited to help install and remove flags.
