Coolest Thing Made in Oregon field narrows to eight finalists

The first round of voting in the fourth annual Coolest Thing Made in Oregon contest concluded yesterday, narrowing the field of manufactured products from 16 to eight finalists.

Presented by Oregon Business & Industry, the contest highlights products manufactured throughout the state. A panel selected the original 16 finalists from nominations submitted by Oregonians over the spring and summer.

The second round of voting has begun on the business group's website, where Oregonians can view the competition bracket and cast votes. The contest will continue through several rounds of public voting, with the winning manufacturer receiving formal recognition.

The remaining finalists include Hazelnut Espresso Vodka by Crater Lake Spirits in Bend, the Ice Cream Vending Bike by Icicle Tricycles in Portland, Waffle Fries by Lamb Weston in Boardman and the Panton Chair by Miles Fiberglass in Clackamas.

Also advancing are Wayfinder Ride-On Toys by PNW Assistive Technology in Eugene, Sharp Cheddar Cheese by Tillamook in Tillamook, the Model 1600 Over Snow Vehicle by Tucker Sno-Cat in Medford and the RMX Reverse Tanto Folding Knife by Work Sharp in Ashland.

Voting in the second round will conclude Oct. 5, when the remaining field will be narrowed to four finalists.
