Tip brings DCSO recovery of stolen ATV, Bend man’s arrest
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A tip to Deschutes County sheriff's detectives that a Bend man was trying to sell a stolen side-by-side ATV led to charges against the 20-year-old and recovery of the vehicle in the suspect's backyard.
Detectives with the sheriff's office Street Crimes Unit got a tip Monday that Victor "Divon" Chavez was trying to sell a $27,000 ATV that was reported stolen from a ranch near Terrebonne last November, Sgt. William Bailey said.
Detectives found the ATV in the backyard of a home in the 1900 block of Northeast Jackson Avenue in Bend, Bailey said. Detectives then sought and were granted a search warrant to recover it.
Chavez was arrested by criminal citation on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
