PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) – A 23-year-old Prineville woman was killed in an ATV crash northwest of Prineville Sunday afternoon, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies were dispatched around 4:30 p.m. on a welfare check on North Puckett Road, Sgt. Tim Durheim said.

The caller, from out of state, was on the phone with a woman operating an ATV, but lost contact and called the sheriff’s office to check on her, he said.

Deputies found a red Honda four-wheeler ATV half-submerged in an irrigation canal on private property, Durheim said.

The woman’s name was withheld, pending notification of family.

Evidence indicates alcohol was a factor in the crash, Durheim added.
