Forest Service further reduces Red Fire’s emergency closure area; FS Road 60 reopens around Crescent Lake

CRESCENT, Ore. (KTVZ) — The Deschutes National Forest on Wednesday further reduced the temporary emergency fire closure area on the Crescent Ranger District for the Red Fire near Crescent Lake, which remains 3,060 acres and is 30% contained.

Access to Forest Service Road 60 around Crescent Lake has reopened, including all recreation residences. A temporary emergency closure remains in place for the area around the fire perimeter, including Forest Service Road 6010 for public safety and ongoing suppression repair.

Red Fire | Temporary Emergency Fire Closure

The emergency closure order for the Red Fire has been updated and currently includes the following closed locations as well as general forest area within the closure. Please see attached for full closure order and closure order map.

The closure area includes the burn area within the Diamond Peak Wilderness.

The following trails and trailheads are temporarily closed:

· Whitefish Creek Trail south of Crater Butte Trail

· Crater Butte Trail east of Whitefish Creek to Fawn Lake Trail

The following roads in the area are temporarily closed:

· Forest Service Road 6010
