MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) – The graduation ceremony for the Madras and Bridges High School seniors is scheduled for Saturday, June 13th at Madras High School, officials said Thursday. While the logistics and details of the ceremony itself are still being refined, students will in fact get to walk across a stage to receive their diploma.

The ceremony will tentatively begin at 9 a.m. and is planned to take most of the day. Graduates and their families need to prepare for limited participation as a result of the COVID-19 and current social distancing requirements, the schools said.

“We are so thankful for the seniors, their families, and the community’s patience while we work diligently to create a memorable graduation ceremony that also adheres to current social distancing requirements,” said Brian Crook, MHS Principal.

Last week, Jefferson County School District 509-J solicited input from seniors and their families about what they’d like to see incorporated into the graduation ceremony and to better understand students’ highest priorities for the ceremony.

With nearly 200 responses, the school district is incorporating that input into the planning of the event.

“I really want to thank our seniors and families for their input,” said Jay Weeks, Bridges High School principal. “It provided valuable information that helps us to plan the event and maintain a focus that is our seniors.”

More information and ceremony details are planned in the coming week.
