DA: Bus driver who crashed wasn’t drunk, won’t be charged
FOREST GROVE, Ore. (AP) — The Washington County District Attorney’s office has announced that it will not prosecute a man who drove and crashed a school bus full of children.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reports Jonathan Gates was arrested in November after he crashed a school bus into a ditch with about 10 children and a teacher’s aide aboard as he was driving them to school in Forest Grove.
Gates was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and reckless endangerment. No one was injured.
Washington County Deputy District Attorney Matt Wise says Gates was given a sobriety test after he was arrested and provided a .00% blood alcohol content.
