SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- Protesters who were arrested during a sit-in at the Oregon governor's office last month will not be charged with trespassing.

The 21 had refused to leave Gov. Kate Brown's office until she opposed a planned liquefied natural gas pipeline and marine terminal. The state police arrested them after nightfall and they were held overnight in jail and then released.

A spokeswoman for the Marion County district attorney said Friday the office decided not to charge the 21 with criminal trespass in the second degree. Brown's spokesman says pursuing charges would not have been a good use of public resources.

    1. They were arrested. Try reading or better yet having someone (assuming you know anyone who can read) read the article to you before you run your yap. They should be tried and convicted just like 7 of little lyin donnie’s top advisors and associates were !!! ROTFLMAO!!! Sooo much winning !!! Oh, and golfing and lying!!!

      1. Perfectly fine with the last 66 years living here and looking forward to at least another 30 plus, thank you anyway. I did not say to repress anything, your words only. No-one stopped them from voicing their opinion before the building was closed for business, the issue is they stayed after business hours trying to force their opinion. Idiots should have checked to see if kate was even in the building before trying this stunt.

        1. there are always those who will find rules to suppress the voices of those they find inconvenient – unfortunately, the voice of the people matters in this country, whether you like it or not – it is not about you but us, as in all of us, and your need to suppress the voice of others is disturbingly un-American, no matter how much you wave the flag

  2. I remember when a group of people did something similar in Harney county and the governor wanted to use the national guard to wipe them out. It’s all about her voters and the cesspool of north western Oregon
