Joe Centanni resigns due to relocating out of state

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Redmond City Councilor Joe Centanni announced his resignation last Tuesday due to relocating out of state and Albert Calderon was appointed to fill the vacancy through the end of the year, city officials said.

Centanni served Redmond as a city councilor from 2006-2011, and again since 2012.

Following the announcement, the city council approved Mayor George Endicott’s appointment of Albert Calderon to fill Centanni’s newly vacated seat.

“I love Redmond’s small-town charm and progressive mindset.  As a contractor, I have had the unique privilege to working closely with many city staff members across multiple departments and am always impressed by their professionalism,” Calderon said.

“Redmond’s leadership has done an amazing job being fiscally responsible, while paying close attention to the development and maintenance of the city’s infrastructure," he said. "I look forward to serving the residents of Redmond and continuing its long-standing tradition of community-minded leadership.”

Calderon is a general contractor and owner of Calderon Enterprises LLC.  He was raised in Redmond and is a proud 2001 graduate of Redmond High School.

“After interviewing Mr. Calderon, it was evident that he is passionate about giving back to the community where he was raised and now operates a successful business,” Endicott said.

The appointment is effective immediately and ends when the term expires on Dec. 31, 2020.
