REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A wind-fanned brush fire northwest of Redmond burned about a quarter-acre Friday afternoon before crews stopped it, officials said.

Redmond Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched just after 2 p.m. to the brush fire on Bureau of Land Management property at Coyner Avenue and Helmholtz Way, threatening to spread into the Redmond fire district, Captain Sean Hagen said.

The fire was possibly from an abandoned campfire, Hagen said.

Although burning season is open, Hagen said Redmond Fire & Rescue wants to remind everyone that it’s still very dry and to “please be careful when burning.”
