Oregon State Police investigate arrowed deer case in Burns, asking for public’s help

BURNS, Ore. (KTVZ) The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is investigating a deer found alive with an arrow in its head on May 21, 2026, in Burns, Harney County, Ore. The deer was later euthanized for humane reasons.

OSP Fish and Wildlife was notified on the morning of May 21, 2026, that the injured deer had been located within the city of Burns. Responding agencies included the Oregon State Police, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Burns Police Department. The deer was tranquilized and the arrow was removed from the animal's head.

Authorities believe the deer was shot somewhere in or near the city limits of Burns, though the exact time of the incident is unknown. The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is asking the public for assistance with the investigation, which is referenced by case number SP26163743.
