UPDATE: Redmond fire damages two homes, prompts second alarm response

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A fast-moving fire damaged two homes in a northwest Redmond neighborhood Saturday afternoon, prompting a second alarm response from multiple agencies.

Redmond Fire & Rescue responded around 3:15 p.m. to the 2700 block of NW Greenwood Avenue after several 911 callers reported thick black smoke and flames coming from residential structures. According to officials, a homeowner was first alerted to the fire by a passing resident.

When crews arrived, they found heavy fire impacting two separate homes. The incident commander quickly upgraded the response to a second alarm, bringing in additional resources to contain the blaze.

Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading beyond the two affected properties and limited further damage.

No injuries were reported, and all occupants safely evacuated their homes.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Redmond Fire & Rescue was assisted by Bend Fire & Rescue, Oregon State Police and Redmond Police.
