Bend Fire & Rescue offers free life-saving classes

Bend Fire and Rescue Trainings
Hands-Only CPR & Stop the Bleed Trainings

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Bend Fire & Rescue is offering two free monthly classes that teach everyday people how to help save a life in an emergency.

The first is hands-only CPR, a class open to individuals, schools and workplaces. Participants learn what to expect when calling 911, how to perform CPR correctly and effectively, and what happens when first responders arrive.

The second class is Stop the Bleed, another free session that teaches people how to recognize severe bleeding and control it quickly and effectively before help arrives. Bend Fire & Rescue says it’s designed to give the public practical skills that could make a critical difference in a crisis.

KTVZ’s Tracee Tuesday has the details on when the classes are, how to take them and more in her full report during the 6 p.m. newscast on our NBC affiliate.
