REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) — A community-led cleanup effort is planned this weekend at Redmond’s Dirt World encampment area.

Organizers say local residents, volunteers and other community members will come together Sunday to remove accumulated trash and help improve conditions in the area.

The event, called Dirtworld World Uprising, is being described as a grassroots effort driven by people who live in and care about the community. Volunteers will meet at the corner of Northeast Greenwood Avenue and Northeast 17th Street, with cleanup activities scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16.

Organizers say the effort is about taking visible action amid ongoing concerns surrounding homelessness and waste across Central Oregon.
