Caldera’s Ali Heinly hits 1,000-point milestone in big win over Ridgeview
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- In girls’ basketball, the Caldera Wolfpack going up against the Ridgeview Ravens in 5-A play Wednesday night at home saw star player Ali Heinly looking to reach a career-high goal of 1000 points.
Offensively and defensively, Ali - she's dangerous in the paint.
Heinly, going into this game, was just a few points away from a career high – did not disappoint, landing a 2-pointer in the first quarter, taking her over her goal by one.
“It really is something special. I've been working for this. I've spent thousands of hours of my life, like, dedicated to basketball. And it really just validates all of that, makes it feel really like it's really special,” said Heinly.
Caldera is a fairly new team, under the leadership of Varsity Head Coach Pam Bradbury, who says, the team is new to each other, so it’s all about finding their flow as a unit on the hardwood.
“Our big goal this year is to get them to learn, to learn each other's skills and to learn how they can work together the best and what each person can bring to the team,” said Bradbury.
Coach Bradbury says she's excited about what the team can accomplish, and that Ali Heinly dominating with over 1000 career points.
“She's just very athletic and has had a lot of basketball skill this year. Her leadership has really come out and her ability to assist and find shots for other players… to be able to manage her team and really direct, has been really cool to see a big growth in her for sure.”
The Pack get far past the Ravens, 63-29, with Heinly finishing the game with six points.
