Summit makes a statement in Game 1 win over Bend High

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ)-- Summit came out firing in a matchup between two top IMC teams, jumping on Bend early and never letting up in a dominant win. The Storm exploded for three runs in the first inning, taking advantage of timely hitting and walks, then kept the pressure on in the second behind key RBIs from Jackson Parker and Griz Sutherland to build a 7-0 lead. Andrew Guthrie was outstanding on the mound, striking out multiple batters and holding Bend scoreless through four innings. The Lava Bears managed to get on the board in the fifth, but Summit quickly responded with a three-run home run from Parker in the sixth to put the game out of reach. With Guthrie leading the way and Langston Bollert closing things out, the Storm rolled to a 10-1 win, improving to 9-1 in league play and moving up to second in the state rankings.
