The Big Playback 1/17 Pt. 2: Madras boys continue to impress with win over Bend High; Friday’s other scores
MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- On Tuesday night, the Madras White Buffaloes delivered a thrilling statement win, defeating the 5A Bend High Lava Bears 62-55.
The White Buffaloes faced challenges heading into the season after losing key seniors from last year’s squad, which placed fourth in the state. Despite the turnover, senior Reed Simmelink and the rest of the senior class have stepped up, becoming the backbone of a team determined to stay competitive in the 4A ranks.
Simmelink led by example on Tuesday, scoring 13 points in the victory. Junior standout Matthew Suppah Scott dominated in the paint, adding 17 points and showcasing his presence as one of the team’s rising stars.
Suppah Scott and the underclassmen have brought fresh energy to the program, stepping up in critical moments. The blend of seasoned leadership and emerging talent has reinvigorated the White Buffaloes, proving they’re prepared to contend at a high level this season.
With league play set to begin next week, the Madras White Buffaloes are ready to build on their early success. Their combination of determination, teamwork, and talent makes them a team to watch as the season progresses.
