Wildlife officials are concerned about a salmonella outbreak among songbirds in Central Oregon. You're asked to take down your bird feeder for the next month, to stop the spread of the bacterial infection.

    So having the birds instead starve to death in the middle of winter is preferable?

    Thanks. I will not be following this well intentioned but short sighted advise.
