Downtown Bend restaurant’s menu went to the dogs, but now it’s on ‘paws’ due to state health rules

Roam, a restaurant at the Oxford Hotel in downtown Bend, added a special menu just for our furry four-legged friends, from Pawtastic Beef to Ruff Day Chicken. Each dish, small or large, came with a complimentary tennis ball. (And yes, to-go dishes were available ... in a doggy bag, of course.)

But then they landed in the doghouse with state and local health officials, who have rules about such things.

Here's an updated statement from the Oxford:

At ROAM restaurant, we pride ourselves on our commitment to creating a welcoming atmosphere for all, including your furry family members. Our newly released, dog-friendly menu was an example of this commitment.

While we were very excited at the warm reception of our new pup menu; unfortunately, we must "paws" our pet dining options on the patio while we work with OHA to ensure appropriate policies are set in place. Once finalized, we will share an approved action plan with the community so that all of Bend, renowned for being dog-friendly, may continue to enjoy "pawsome" experiences with their furry companions. For now, the dog menu has been removed from the offerings at Roam.
