Park Pick: Beautiful 360-degree views and plenty of history (and exercise) at Bend’s Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint

The panoramic views from the top of Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint attract both locals and tourists year-round. This week on Park Pick, Jillian Fortner delves into the history of this cinder cone volcano on Bend's Eastside, highlighting its role in Bend's annual fireworks show and the 1965 National Junior Ski Championships.

The views are a big draw, of course, but with so many who walk, bike (or drive) to the summit, the park manager calls it "Bend's Stairmaster."
