‘Buses are a lot safer’: Cascades East Transit sees ridership rise as snow, ice make driving trickier
(Update: Adding video, comments from CET)
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ)-- The recent bout of winter weather and icy conditions poses a headache for many drivers. Cascades East Transit says they've got you covered for those needing to travel but who don't want to take the risk.
"If we cancel service, someone's not getting to school or work or something like that," CET Director Bob Townsend said Thursday.
According to their website, larger vehicles have drop-down chains that can be easily engaged by drivers. All CET Dial-A-Ride vans have all-wheel drive, to make sure passengers arrive safely at their destinations.
"When the snow is really bad, we want to actually have more bus service, because we want people to avoid using their cars. The buses are a lot safer," Townsend added.
You can find resources and alerts for any delayed or canceled routes on CET's website.
