Mild and dry pattern heading into the weekend

Were warming up and drying out as we head to the weekend. Our mild pattern will continue, a Thursday will mostly see sunny skies and temperatures topping out in the low 50s and upper 40s.  Today there will be some lingering moisture from a decaying area of low pressure to our north, but we will begin our dry pattern shortly.

With plenty of solar energy due to a lack of cloud cover, the High Desert will be quiet and dry Thursday afternoon. The milder than normal trend will continue into Friday, as the mercury in the thermometer pushes into the middle 50s. Clear skies overnight will allow the region to cool below freezing each of the next several nights, but a quick rebound to the 50s will occur both Saturday and Sunday.

The next chance for snow over the lower elevations arrives on Monday. Sunday will be the “set-up” day as the clouds will lower and thicken ahead of the snow slated to arrive Monday morning.  Highs on Sunday still reach the low 50s but will be followed by afternoon highs in the 30s Monday.

The snow will be off and on most of the day and it should provide us with more snow to shovel and or plow.  The snowy pattern lingers into Tuesday before tapering off late in the day.  Amounts have yet to be determined this far out, but it does look to be about 2 – 4”.  The Cascades will see over a foot, if the models hold.  Grain of salt though: This far out, conditions and timing change frequently. As always, I will keep you informed as we move forward.
