Warming trend into the weekend, snow returns Monday

The milder than normal pattern will continue through Friday and Saturday with temperatures about 10 degrees above normal.  Normal highs in Central Oregon are around the upper 40s, the next couple of days we will be in the upper 50s.

An area of high pressure is off to the east and a low well off the coast is going to push warmer than usual air into the region. The air will be dry and there is little chance of any precipitation. The dry and mild pattern is a small sample of an early Spring, but do not get too used to this scenario, winter is still in play.

Sunday will be the day of transition as the region will still be mild, but wintry weather is knocking on the door. Highs Sunday will reach into the middle 50s then drop into the 20s after midnight (into Monday).  Snow is likely to begin before sunrise and linger off and on most of the day.

The bulk of the snow will fall on the Cascades, possibly over a foot or so, but the snow will still make it to highway 97, so travel will be impacted.  Sisters, La Pine and Sunriver will more than likely see more snow than Bend or Redmond, but that has yet to be etched in stone.  Highs on Monday will only be in the upper 30s.

Overall, the pattern change is typical of a late winter/early spring scenario. Large swings in temperatures and a variety of precipitation.

The rest of the work week will be snowy and rainy with temps in the 30s again on Tuesday then near 50 by mid-week.
