Another crisp night ahead, warming pattern begins Tuesday

The well below temperatures and light rain and mountain snow we experienced over the weekend will be ending and a much warmer pattern begins Wednesday. Highs in the upper 50s and low 60s will be replaced by low 70s Tuesday and low 80s on Wednesday.

As the week moves along the temperature readings will get higher.  Low 80s by mid-week and upper 80s by Friday. Some indications are that we may hit the 90° mark over the weekend. This is a long way off, but for now it seems to be the consensus of the forecasting tools.

There should not be much in the way of cloud cover this week either as the region continues to dry out.  We had some light rain over the weekend, but that did little to soak the soil.  Officially, the snow melt has been keeping the region from being place into any kind of drought scenario, but it would be nice to get some soaking rains to help the high desert.

This Thursday is the first day of summer, the summer solstice. This is when the direct rays of the sun are over the Tropic of Cancer.  This is the longest day of the year (the day with the most time in the sun).  The solstice will occur at 1:50 local time and marks the beginning of the astronomical summer.  The meteorological summer is defined as June, July, and August; the three warmest months of the year and is used the scientists to mark records as the time frame is much more consistent.

It will feel like summer this weekend, so if you like the cooler weather, enjoy it while you can.
