Cool pattern continues today, improving our air quality

KTVZ

Highs today in the 60s with a few areas tipping into the low 70s. Skies will clear up from yesterday’s rain, with just a few clouds. Blanket your broccoli because overnight lows will be brisk, in the 30s and 40s. La Pine, Sunriver, and Sisters are expected to be near or below freezing. Keep those gardens warm tonight!

Air Quality Alerts have been lifted for Jefferson and Crook County but remain for Deschutes until further notice. The cooler and wetter pattern, as well as a west, northwest wind has allowed many areas to clear up. The Little Lava Fire burning just a number of miles west of Sunriver means that even with the wet weather, smoke will linger in the surrounding areas.

Fire behavior calms down in these conditions, which is helpful for our firefighters.

On Friday and Saturday, we’ll climb into the low to mid 70s and be nearly average for this time of year. There will be some increasing cloud cover in the evening and night time for these days. In short, a normal and dry couple of days.

There is rain in the forecast on Sunday and early next week. I’ll continue to track that as we head into the weekend. Temperatures next week look cool, in the 60s.

Happy Thursday!
