Much closer to normal for the second half of the week
Today, temperatures will drop about 10-15 degrees from what we saw yesterday. Highs will be in the low 70s, close to normal. Skies will be clear and there will be a breeze this afternoon with gusts 15-20mph. Overnight lows will have that “Brrr” factor, dropping again to the 20s and 30s.
The ridge that was to our southwest has flattened overnight and cooler air from the north has dipped into the Northwest, allowing temperatures to return to normal. A cold front moving through early this morning is also contributing to the mild temperatures and will be the main cause for the freezing overnight lows and breezy afternoon.
The pattern doesn’t shift much Thursday. We will be mild, sunny, and dry. There is, however, a new player come Friday that will bring some change for us here in high desert.
On Friday, a cold front as well as an upper-level low will swing by overhead, bringing with it breezy conditions, cloud cover, and a slim chance for rain. Best chance for rain will be along the Cascades and areas on the eastern slopes, like Sisters. I don’t expect anything wetting or exciting. We have been very dry this week and I don’t see us getting enough moisture near the surface to see that rain hit the ground. We’ll be tracking it over the next few days and will keep you updated as we approach the weekend.
