Quiet today but pattern shift tomorrow brings breezy and cloudy conditions
Today will be very similar to yesterday, temperatures in the low 70s. There will be some partly cloudy skies this morning before they clear up in the second half of the day. Lows tonight in the 30s and 40s. The dry conditions persist today.
An Air Quality Alert was released for Deschutes County yesterday but is set to expire Friday. Winds from the southeast this morning should provide some ventilation for Sunriver and La Pine. Winds today are on the lighter side, and variable during the afternoon. Expect light to moderate smoke in Deschutes County to linger today.
Winds will be more robust tomorrow, coming from the southwest. A Wind Advisory as well as a Fire Weather Watch are in place for Friday afternoon and evening for areas south and east of us, such as Klamath, Lake, Harney, and Malheur County. Fire spread will be a concern due to the dry air and windy evening expected. We will likely see more smoke in our area from the Willamette Complex Fire on Friday.
A cold front and a low pressure system sweeping through will be responsible for these concerns. They will also be responsible for our increased cloud cover Friday. Chances for rain are slim to none. What’s expected is that these systems will trigger rain along the I-5 corridor around noon Friday. Then, push the last remaining moisture up the western slopes of the Cascades so that rain falls along the crests. By the evening time, there will be no more moisture left for us on the eastern side. We will be too dry for rain at the surface.
The weekend looks clear, dry, and above normal. Temperatures will begin to rise again Saturday. Sunday and early next week will be in the mid to upper 70s.
