Air quality issues will continue today with the persistent warm & dry conditions
Yesterday, the Pine Fire sparked in southeast Deschutes County and quickly grew to 2000 acres. Warm and dry conditions yesterday, as well as the excess of dry surface fuel, allowed this fire to spread rapidly. We will be on the warm and dry side again today, which will make firefighting challenging. Wind gusts will be coming from the southwest at 15-20mph this afternoon. We have a cool down coming tomorrow but with it will be breezy conditions.
Although temperatures have generally cooled to more mild highs, the exceptionally dry weather we’ve experienced the last few months are counteracting the cooler temps. Our afternoon highs are still above normal for this time of year and we are seriously lacking in the rain department. We have to continue to be aware of potential fire danger. Practice fire safety.
Temperatures today will be in the upper 70s under mostly clear skies. Lows tonight in the 30s and 40s.
Cooler air moves in tomorrow. With the arrival of a cold front, temperatures will drop into the low 70s and upper 60s. We’ll hover around these highs into the weekend. The front will bring with it some moisture, but not enough for rain but we’ll be cloudy starting Wednesday and into the weekend. We will be on the breezy side tomorrow as the front swings by.
Happy Tuesday. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the hidden pumpkin in my forecast this month!
